.) Moxie Raia. I discovered Moxie (top left corner) through Vic Mensa’s soundcloud. He reposted her cover of his song “Down on My Luck.” I just took a listen to the track just because and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I loved her cover (more than the original actually) along with her other covers such as her rendition of “Stay” by Sam Smith. She has a nice voice and she makes covers her own. Her original music has potential as well. I’ll give her some time. She’s a newbie. If you like Demi Lovato, Cher, Little Mix, you’ll probably like her. Here’s her soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/yomoxie
.) Nike Nando. I actually saw Nike Nando (top right corner) perform when I saw Dom Kennedy in concert back in February. His music definitely bumps. Ride around type of music, I.E. why he would open up for an act like Dom Kennedy. I’m surprised the kid doesn’t have more exposure. His production is tight and he’s pretty decent on the mic. He has potential. If you like well.. Dom Kennedy (haha), Skeme, Casey Veggies, then you’ll probably like him. Here’s his soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/nikenando
.) Vicktor Taiwo. I don’t even remember how I came across this kid’s music but I’m glad I did. He has a distinctive, lulling voice. His sound is backed by trippy layered instrumentals. My favorite song from him is “Digital Kids.” Definitely something to chill and vibe to. I think if you enjoy music of The Weeknd, Jhene Aiko, XXYXX, you’ll probably enjoy his sound. Here’s his soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/vicktortaiwo
.) Rejjie Snow. I came across Snow (kid with red and white jacket on) through Youtube suggestions as per usual. I liked his sound from first listen. He’s a rapper hailing from Ireland I believe. He’s pretty dope. His EP “Rejovich” is really good but also too short. If you like Odd Future (especially Earl Sweatshirt or Tyler, the Creator specifically), Bishop Neru, then you’ll like this kid. 5.) Adrian Marcel. Okay, so this cat (bottom right corner) is pretty smooth. If you watched the BET Awards, you might have saw this kid perform in between sets as a “Music Matters” artist. He’s Raphael Saadiq’s protege. If Chris Brown and Miguel had a love child it would be him and DeBarge would be his grand daddy. He’s refreshing for the current lacking R&B scene and he’s also fine (lol just saying). He also has a very nice voice. Check him out. Here’s his soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/adrian-marcel510
Alright, that’s all I have for ya’ll for the month of July. If you have any suggestions, please leave a comment and I’ll be sure to check it out. Until next time, xo.
